The duo 88 keys for two comprises the Slovenian accordionist Polona Tominec and the Italian pianist Giovanna Gatto. The duo was formed in 2012 at the Berne University of the Arts (CH), where both Polona and Giovanna studied and have been supported by their respective professors, the pianist Patricia Pagny and the accordionist Teodoro Anzellotti. They also had the pleasure to join the lessons of great musicians like Edoardo Torbianelli , Robert Levin, Francesco Gesualdi.
The duo receive high acclaim from audiences and critics alike for the eclecticism of their repertoire. They perform both compositions especially written for the duo, as well as a diverse repertoire of arrangements for accordion and piano. 88 keys for two have performed many world premieres, collaborating with composers such as the italian Carlo Galante.
They have performed extensively in major concert halls and festivals in Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Slovenia. These include the Bern Konservatorium and Yehudi Menuhin Forum (CH), Teatro Filodrammatici in Milan as a part of EXPO 2015, Festival Ville in Musica in Milan, Festival Maggio in Musica at the Conservatory in Pavia, IV Festival Tempi Musicali in Rome, XXVIII Festival Tra Lago e Monti (Lecco), Auditorium in Komen (Slovenia), Yehudi Menuhin Forum and Grosser Konzertsaal at the Berne University of the Arts (CH).
